21st September is Zero emissions day. A day where we remind and encourage each and every one of us to reduce our use of fossil fuels in order to help take care of our planet. We\u2019ve made big steps the last month or so at tafia.co.uk<\/a><\/u> and switched our manufacturing processes to renewable-energy powered factories. This has made a drastic reduction to our emissions.\u00a0<\/h3>

Globally, of the 1 billion items of clothing made each year, almost 40% of all production is never utilised. This results in a dump truck full of textiles going straight to landfill, every second of the day. When you think about it, climate change is because of stuff like this. CO2 pollution occurs as part of the process of making things.<\/p>

That's why we make things differently. Our products and packaging are made from natural materials, not plastic.\u00a0Every product we make is designed to be sent back when it is worn out - we make new products from the material recovered, so the cycle itself is renewable.<\/p>

But what does this mean? 350,000 tonnes<\/strong>, that's around \u00a3140 million worth of used but still wearable clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year. This equates to more than 30% of our unwanted clothing currently goes to landfill.

As mentioned, our manufacturing processes are powered by renewable energy. The Sun powers the machines that make our products in real time, in the seconds after they're ordered. We only make what people need, when they need it.<\/p>

Instead of making more things and hoping for change, our new way of working is helping change the way things are made. That's what sustainability and being ethical means to us.<\/p>
