One area of direct concern for tafia.co.uk is the fact that just 14% of the plastic packaging used globally makes its way to recycling plants, and only 9% is actually recycled. Meanwhile, a third is left in fragile ecosystems, and 40% ends up in landfill. We have removed all plastic from our packaging and we now use paper packaging and our\u00a0mailing bags are responsibly sourced and made from 100% recycled material. You can even let the kids colour it in before composting!<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote><p><span style=\"text-align:center;display:block;\">Washing clothes releases 500,000 tons of polyester microfibers into the ocean each year according to World Economic Forum statistics, that\u2019s the equivalent of 50 billion plastic bottles in weight but each tiny fibre is small enough to be absorbed by plankton and bioaccumulate up into our food chains. Polyester does not break down in the ocean and this kind of plastic can never be removed or cleaned up from nature.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"text-align:center;display:block;\">The only solution is to immediately redesign the way clothes are made. For us, that means using materials made from plants, not plastic, and instead of sending products to landfill, sending them back to us to be remade. That is what a circular fashion economy looks like, and because of the choices we made when choosing our supply chain, every product in our collection is designed in this way.
